County Information

County Facts

Travel along Route 6 in northern Pennsylvania and you will view a national forest, the headwaters of major rivers, and historic trials of the pioneers. McKean and Potter Counties are situated about 2000 feet above sea level, covering an area close to 2000 square miles in the Appalachian Moutain Plateau known as the Alleghenies, along the Pennsylvania/New York border.

The population of 65,000 enjoy the natural beauty of the vast woodlands, streams and wildlife. Economically, the area is known for the quality of its hardwood lumber, oil and natural gas, agriculture, glass and carbon industries, Zippo lighters, Case knives, and Adelphia Cable Communications companies.

Visit us sometime, but be prepared to enjoy the natural beauty of our land, the hospitality of our people, and an experience that will make you want to come again.
